CANTONMan shot to deathCANTON: Police said Matthew Daviduk, 29, of Canton, died at Aultman Hospital after being shot early Saturday near Navarre Road and McKinley Avenue Southwest.Officers responded to the 1100 block of McKinley at 3:35 a.m. after receiving a report of shots fired.Around the same time, Aultman Hospital reported a man with multiple gunshot wounds had been driven to the hospital by another person.Daviduk was reported dead at the hospital.Canton police provided no further information about Daviduk or the shooting. akronRiver meeting setAKRON: The Little Cuyahoga River will be the subject of a public meeting at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Goodyear Branch of Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 Goodyear Blvd.The meeting is being arranged by the Akron-based Northeast Ohio Four County Planning and Regional Development Organization.Topics to be discussed including what’s happening in the watershed, planning options and watershed needs.The stream drains parts of Summit and Portage counties before it enters Akron and empties into the main Cuyahoga River in North Akron.A meeting on the Little Cuyahoga River was held in 2010.For information, contact Eric Akin at 330-252-0337.Dinner meetingAKRON: The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition will hold its annual dinner meeting Feb. 23 at Todaro’s Party Center, 1820 Akron-Peninsula Roadin the Merriman Valley.The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., the dinner at 6:30 p.m., the annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. and the awards at 8:30 p.m.Tickets are $45. Schmitt serves as a senior manager at Ernst & Young. HUDSON SCHOOLSNew starting timeHUDSON: The Hudson Board of Education has changed the starting time for its 2012 meetings from 7:30 to 7 p.m.The change will take effect at the Jan. 23 meeting, with the location remaining in the High School Media Center.Meeting dates are scheduled for the second and fourth Mondays of the month, with exceptions in May, November and December. David Zuro was re-elected as board president, and Steven DiMauro was chosen vice president.The board has one new member this year: James Field, who was elected to a four-year term in November.
